A Marionpolice officer was trying to execute a search warrant for drugs at a home when he was attacked by a dog that wouldn’t stop biting; that was until officers shot the animal to death. Police say that the pit bull bit on the arm of Officer Dave Troutman and simply wouldn’t let go. Troutman and two other officers shot several rounds to stop the attack. Troutman was taken to Riverside Hospital in Columbus for surgery. The attack occurred at about 1:40 in the afternoon in the 500-block of Avondale Avenue. Lt. BJ Gruber notes that neighbors, a number of whom came to the officer's aid, helped the investigation, which led to the raid of the property. Three adults and one juvenile were arrested in the raid in which a significant amount of heroin was found along with a firearm. Police say there were three pit bulls inside the home at the time, including the one that was killed. The three adults arrested were 30-year-old Jennifer Tiller, charged with trafficking in heroin; 29-year-old Phylissa A. Cooper, charged with drug abuse and obstruction; and 39-year-old Karen J. Prise-Hughes on a warrant charge and failure to appear in court.
